AMERICAN CONSUMERISM (2025)
Repurposed single-use plastic, wood, art resin
24” x 24” x 2”
AMERICAN CONSUMERISM is a low relief sculptural work composed of floating, wooden dowels wrapped with more than 800 barcodes salvaged from single-use plastic bags, wrappers, and packaging. The piece illustrates the extraordinary volume of plastic otherwise destined for the landfill or worse, our waterways and shorelines. The work invites the viewer into a quiet, meditative space, echoing the rhythmic calm of water while holding the weight of what lies beneath its surface.
